Further to the issues this week and the installation of a temporary replacement MUX last night to bring our redundant link back online we are anticipating the receipt of a replacement MUX on Friday.
The work to replace the MUX should not be service affecting, we will simply route traffic over the primary link whilst this connection is taken offline and connections are migrated onto the new MUX.
Once we are happy that the new MUX is working as expected we will then break the backup link briefly to install a new / additional MUX on this link which will enable us to run 18 x 10 Gbit waves between East and West providing additional redundancy in case of a hardware failure.
Again this work should not be service affecting
During the maintenance we will be “At Risk” of an outage should the backup link fail while the primary is under maintenance
