Following on from the recent (brief) periods of instability and issues we experienced over Xmas with our (Cisco) core routers bottle necking due to capacity issues, I am please to confirm that the advanced upgrade plan we have been working on for some time has now been completed ahead of schedule.
We have now completed the first stage roll out of additional network capacity and brought this online over night which adds a further 100Gbit of capacity to our network.
This means we now have in excess of 380Gbit of available bandwidth on our London Backbone and have extended our MPLS and xDSL routing capabilities. In anticipation of further growth of our MPLS/DSL, EFM and leased line businesses.
The maintenance was originally planned for the first weekend in March, however following the recent spate of DDoS attacks and amplification attacks (something we have been able to weather well with minimal impact to our network) we felt it prudent to accelerate the roll out of this new technology (which we have been operating in parallel to our existing network for several months already).
We are now able to bolt on additional “chunks” of capacity if/when required in blocks of 50Gbit and 100Gbit units to ensure additional capacity is quickly available when necessary.
