Fibre Break between INX and GS1

Service has now been restored to the INX< ->GS1 fibre leg following
the works carried out by our supplier.

The ring is once again complete, and resilient to a single fibre
break.

** 17:00 **
We have just received an update from our fibre provider.

It seems a city contractor has damaged a 200 meter stretch of one of
the main cable systems in the city; a 258 core fibre cable. Due to
the extensive damage it is unlikely that this connection will be back
in service before the early hours of tomorrow.

After the initial break was detected we manually disabled the switch
ports facing the broken fibre so no loop can occur during our
provider’s work and testing. We have requested our provider call us
as soon as our fibre is ready to be brought back in to service.

At this time we remain at-risk. Any other fibre break on the ring
will result in a partitioned network.

We will send a further update as soon as we have any news.

** 12:50 **

We have lost a fibre leg between INX and GS1. A number of other
providers on the same fibre route also seem to be affected (confirmed
by our fibre provider) so we are currently treating this as a break
external to either building and a case has been raised.

As such we are currently at risk to any further fibre break until
this issue is resolved.

We will update with further information as and when we have it.
