MBORC declaration
This MBORC declaration is issued as a special alert to all Openreach customers due to the severe weather experienced over the past few days
Due to the severe weather conditions witnessed in many parts of the UK, it is necessary for Openreach to declare MBORC for repair activities on the following 12 areas with effect from 08:00 hours, 24 December 2012:-

Areas

Bristol
Bournemouth
Derby/Nottingham
Durham/Teesside
Exeter
Mid Wales/Shrewsbury
North London
Northumberland/Wearside
Southampton
South Yorkshire
Stoke/Chester
West Downs

In addition to the above, the following 6 areas were already subject to MBORC declaration and remain so:-

Central Downs
Newport/Worcester
North Wales
Swansea
Swindon
Truro

In all of the above areas, the extremely high rainfall and extensive flooding has severely restricted access to our network apparatus and our underground infrastructure has been heavily impacted.

We continue to direct available resource into these areas, including overtime working over the holiday period, to bring the position back to normal as quickly as possible.

We will remove MBORC as soon as service can be restored to levels they were at immediately before the very recent poor weather.

We have managed to hold back from adding further areas at this time but, with regret, due to the ongoing adverse conditions, it is likely that further areas will be similarly affected.

We will monitor the situation over the holiday period and give a further update on Thursday 28 December.

We would like to thank our customers for your patience and consideration during this very challenging time.

Regards
