The long awaited upgrade of web-11 is scheduled to happen this weekend.
The upgrade will bring the ability to select PHP versions as well as a number of security updates and the latest version of the Plesk control panel.
We anticipate the upgrade will take at least 3 hours and during this time access to sites may be affected.
Saturday 31st May 2014
At 22:00 we will turn off all inbound delivery of email and effectively turn the file systems read only. We will then complete a clone of the data across onto a new server (web sites, logs, emails and databases).
Once completed we will then turn off the old web-11 and migrate IP addresses to the new server before rebooting the new server and bringing it online with the old identity.
We anticipate this will take 1-2 hours. Where necessary we will also update DNS records to change any EUI64 encoded IP Addresses for the IPv6 assignments.
Once the new web-11 has completed we will ensure all data is normalised and then re-enable inbound email delivery.
We anticipate in a worst case scenario that work will be completed by 06:00 on Sunday morning.
