At approximately 17:00 BST this evening we experienced a total failure of one of the Cisco switches in our London 2 facility which caused a small number of customer connections (those without dual uplinks) and hosted servers to go offline.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the failure, it took a short while to identify the faulty switch as the culprit, and then a further hour to source, configure and install a replacement.
Connections were restored by approximately 18:45 BST
As part of the replacement a number of connections were also migrated to larger / more robust switches to minimise the potential impact of such a failure again, and some customers may find their bandwidth usage graphs split between two ports for today as a result.
We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by todays outage.
